New blog design and sculpting goodies!

Hello everyone!
For you old viewers welcome to the new blog I am still messing around with the layouts so don't worry things may move around or not it all depends! I have gone with one of bloggers dynamic themes look how cool it is everything is all free flowing and stuff "fancy web magic".And for you new viewers "if there are any" welcome to my blog about 3D art! If you hover your mouse over the top bar you will be able to read my little description about the blog if not here's a small version basically I started this blog around June last year to track my progress on the EPQ "Extended Project Qualification" but I liked it so much I kept it and now I am planing to use it for all sorts of EVIL!   good!

And before I go back to my work and sorting out my blog here is some renders of one of the models I created in Sculptris enjoy everyone! Its sort of a vampire daemon like creature I am very pleased with it took me a good few hours to sculpt out.

Everyday I'm sculpting

Hello everyone welcome to another post it's been awhile just letting you all know I am still alive and sculpting I have now started my new courses at college so I am just settling into them, like I said early I have been sculpting some more using sculptris sadly I can't put the renders up here at the moment because I am writing this post of my saucy new phone ;) and sadly the blogger app doesn't allow pictures to be posted.  So because of that I will put up the renders when I get time, in terms of new projects I have started work on my newest sculpt its also gonna be the first sculpt I have created using hard surface techniques as the creature is going to have a respirator type thing in his mouth, so the flattern and polish brushes are going to become my new friends!

Anyway that's all for this little post since I am on phone so I am limited to what I can post I will do a better one soon hopefully and finally get around to re shaping the blog!

Till next time.

Polycount

Hey everyone, quick little update I finally got around to joining Polycount last week, In hindsight I most likely should have done this a lot sooner but never the less, Polycount is a very good site it's sort of a home for 3D artists, Animators, Digital artists and traditional artists. Its a very good place to find lots of nice work and get reviews on your work as well :) I urge anyone interested In 3D etc to check it out :D

Dinner for two...

Dōmo arigatō, Mr. Roboto

Hello everyone, not that many days now till christmas and hopefully that nice new laptop :D, heres a little update and as you can tell from the title its about a robot!

For some reason I really like 3D models or 3D sculpts of robots/mechas/cyborgs etc, its most likely because I love the sci-fi setting. But anyway, this was made for one of our projects during the 3D modelling section of my games design course, the project was to create a vehicle however a few people started creating robots and since I didn't really want to create a vehicle I also made a robot I started searching for some cool robot concepts I could work from and found this cool one on Google.

A nice simple robot, its a very nice bit of concept art I found its clear and I really enjoyed box modelling from it.

It took maybe two hours from start to finish  taking into account I did it in college so I was talking to friends and that at the same time heres what I came up with :D

I also adapted the model when I made it, the concept shows the robot has a small wheel, however I didn't really want to create a wheel so I made a jet type thing so the robot could hover or float to places.

Heres another render showing the different sides of the bot.

Sorry the lighting is a bit off it hurt my laptop to even render that out so I couldn't line it all up correctly.

And finally heres the final render complete with some sexy indirect lighting causing the robots eyes to glow enjoy :D

I am very pleased with the final render :D

Now then thats it for this post, I think my next post will be christmas eve I guess because I am working at the weekend I wont have time to post then so see everyone christmas eve :D

Till next time.

And one I am working on at the moment :D

It is going to be a gingerbread man but early days ^_^

Also for some reason I keep messing around with Indirect Lighting, not sure why maybe because its sooooo pretty. In the next post I am gonna talk about the lovely topic that is Indirect Lighting and a lot about this render.

Till next time.

3D Modelling in College

Hello there you crazy cats ;), well the 3D Modelling part of my games course at college has finally started so expect to see more models coming up ^_^ note of course these models will not be included in my EPQ due to the nature of the EPQ not allowing other work done in other course on it but never the less it does give me more stuff to add it the page!

Pumpkins and Patches

Hello people of the internet I return, sorry for late posts god dam college and such >.< but don't worry I have been doing a lot of 3D stuff I just haven't had time to post on here about it! But do not fear I am here with some 3D goodness.

Now as some of you may or may not know, Blender 2.64 released sometime last week and of course I have been having a play around with it, trying the new modifiers like the Skin modifier which allows you to create a fully rigged and modelled model quickly and easy.

Glossary type thingy....

Influences

Greetings everyone no new models this time around instead I have been asked by my EPQ teacher to explain a bit about my Influences and what has Influenced me to want to create 3D models and what I try and base mine off, I did cover this kind of before I even started creating 3D models right In my very first post but I didn't go into to much detail so now's the chance to expand on it a bit, oh and before I forget I have been meaning to mention someone in these posts for awhile now but have totally forgot my friend Calvin reads my posts and he is in my games development class in college and I said I will have a little shout out to him in blog so here it is....

Things are getting a little....Odd

Hello everyone, no 3D stuff today but I did want to share with you a quick review of an art book I brought one I have been searching for since it was first printed back in 2004/2005 Its an art book about some of the best games I have ever played and one of the best game companies in existence safe to say their games defined my childhood...

Wretches and Kings

Hello there, back again with more lovely 3d goodness If anyone is wondering the title of today's blog is actually also the title of a very good Linkin Park song please go check it out its pretty awesome ^_^
Anyway onto the post I have created the next chess piece "The King" only issue is its not totally finished its missing the top getting around to adding that soon, been busy with college starting up again "sad face :(" even though it is missing the topper the base shape is there and it looks pretty good, but first an actual king piece just in case none knows :L

The finest white chocolate.... I kid XD
Imagine chocolate chess sets, the future??
Anyway need to stay on topic yes the king piece...

Doesn't look too bad, mine has a little bit of a rounded top but that's just because of the subdivisions and to be honest looks quite cool, like I said the topper hasn't been done yet as I will need to model it on its own like I did with the knights head and then attach it after, I will posted the completed one whenever I get around to modelling it up shouldn't take me that long or though it kinda small could be a problem.

Like I said before because college has started up again posts may come a little bit slower but not too much, I am planning a review in a few days time of an amazing game related book I got which is amazing, and a few other things as well heres a sneak peak of the book in the box try and guess what it is ;)

<3
And also Tekken Tag Tournament 2 is out soon so expect something on that because the 3d art in that game is amazing.

Now before I go, go over to my good friends blog and demand he makes his blog posts longer!!!  http://gamedevandprocrastination.blogspot.co.uk/ good name right ;)

Till next time.

Water Simulation

Water is the driving force of all nature.
 - Leonardo da Vinci
Hello everyone back once again, at the bottom of my last post I put a frame from my latest animation and I am please to say that the animation was a success :D it took about +5 hours render time and totals at 250 frames which = about 10 secs long, never again will I do a water simulation on this old laptop, next time I do one I will have a much better laptop which will hopefully cut that render time in half, so here is the lovely animation and it does actually look pretty sweet. This is all I got time for today as I have been trying out a few other things in blender like cycles and that, sadly cycles is another thing which doesn't work very well on this old thing why that is I will explain sometime in the week in a post intitled "Cycles vs Normal renders"

Enjoy....

Till next time...

Ladies and Gents I give you Nigel....

Hello again peoples of the internet, I am back with the update I promised a few posts ago its the finished Nigel model complete with legs and everything !! Like i said before this has been my first time doing a model this big and a human one so forgive any issues, the legs were very very hard for me to do since after struggling for a long time on them I found out I kinda modelled the chest wrong and had to adapt which took me an hour just to get the base shape which left the bottom of the chest all messed up and I had to go back and sort out the chest or put it this way he would have looked like a alien "Not a bad thing xD". Nigel now looks kinda normal his feet may be a bit big I will get around to scaling them down sometime, but for the mean time he serves his roll well a test model for modelling, animation, rigging and if I get around to it sculpting, the next step for Nigel now is rigging which I had a play around with last night and found out its not easy to line everything up and sighing when i remembered the state of his hands when I modelled them the fingers are actually messed up making it hard to get the rig on the fingers hopefully it will come to together in time and we can starting making this dude walk, run, sing, and jump "I kid about the sing part :L".

Before anyone says anything I have already had loads of people say he looks like slender man because of the lack of face XD
As you can also tell from the model I started sculpting basic muscles features as you can tell from the chest area and stomach including along the arms, this is only basic very basic when i finished the model it was pretty late at night and I decided to stop because I was tired so I only did a bit of basic muscle definition.

And that's Nigel at the moment, I will go back and do more like I said at the moment I have started modelling other stuff "Non humanoid things" which I find more easy than a whole character maybe I have found my thing what I am planning on modelling now is chess pieces to go onto a board I finished the Pawn piece last night it took only about 10 mins to model so I hope that proves I am getting better "Granted it then took another 10 mins to re make it since i deleted it instead of saving it -_-" I shall do another post sometime which the Pawn renders and such. Anyway before I go I will leave you will some test rigs screens where I was trying to line it up.

Till next time.

Glass Effects nailed!!!

Hello everyone two really good pieces of news i have finished Nigel he now has legs and feet and can run and dance like a real boy, I am gonna get a post up sometime soon with the finshed screens some low polys and high polys etc, most likely the weekend when I hope to be free the second epic bit of news I think i have finally nailed how to create perfect glass I may put up a little tutorial of how I did it as well which may look good for the EPQ and plus it would be nice to make something so I don't forget how to do it, hell one day I could be working for a big company like Valve and they could demand a glass effect made :D "Wishful Thinking" so yes in short it would be helpful and plus I can help out anyone else out their that wants to make a sweet looking glass effect in blender. So thats it for this little post enjoy the glass effect screens below.

Sorry for the lack of screens its late at night I am very tried -_-

Till next time.
