Things are getting a little....Odd

Hello everyone, no 3D stuff today but I did want to share with you a quick review of an art book I brought one I have been searching for since it was first printed back in 2004/2005 Its an art book about some of the best games I have ever played and one of the best game companies in existence safe to say their games defined my childhood...

The art of Oddworld Inhabitants 1994-2004, this is a complete collection of the artwork ranging from concept to final drawings, 3D renders, GC stills and more, and this book will benefit me greatly as I learn how to be a good games designer and how to be a good 3D artist as it includes a lot of design advice and reasons behind what they did and why they did it.

Safe to say the Oddworld games are some of the best games I have ever played the atmosphere of the games is perfect dark and disturbing but also comical and beautiful. The book covers all 4 games their produced and also talks about some cancelled ones such as the RTS "The hand of Odd", the games are....

• Oddworld Abes Oddysee - 1995
• Oddworld Abes Exoddus - 1998
• Oddworld Munchs Oddysee - 2001
• Oddworld Strangers Wrath - 2005

I have some pictures that I will put towards the end, bare in mind they are not too great as they are taken on my phone and don't do the books art justice I urge you all to go out and buy it, assuming you can find it for a sane price.

Now encase anyone doesn't know to much about Oddworld games heres an overview.
The games are set on another planet called "Oddworld" with is several times bigger than earth however all four games have only taken place on a small part of it leaving the developers with a lot of room to expand for future games. The first game was based around a character called Abe who was born a slave and grow up working in a meat packing factory until one day he finds out the company's profits have started to decline and they need to make more money to do this the company develop something called "New and Tasty" Abe finds out this new kind of meat is actually his people the fellow slaves that work there so Abe goes on a adventure to free his people and escape the meat packing plant for good.

The developers than moved onto another game with Abe in, and shows what he did after the first game and sees him going to free his trapped brothers from not just one but a few other factory's they are enslaved in and focuses on a strange new drink called "Soulbrew" which is taking Oddworld by storm however there is a dark side to how its produced.

After the second game the developers took a small break and returned with a brand new game in titled Munchs Oddysee and featured a new character called Munch who was the last of his race, Abe also returned to this game to help Munch find the lost Gabbit eggs and save his dying race.

And finally the one more game came out "Strangers wrath" which was the first game that did not feature any characters from other games, no Munch and no Abe, instead it focused on the Stranger a bounty hunter running away from his past.
